The current holder of the PFA Player of the Year award is Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, who won the award for the second time in June 2022. However, the Egyptian forward is not included in the shortlist for the 2022/2023 season.
The PFA has announced the shortlist of 6 players on Thursday, and the winner will be announced on August 29th. Bukayo Saka, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane are among the top contenders this year.
Norwegian star Erling Haaland is a strong candidate for this year’s award after becoming the top scorer in the Premier League last season, scoring 36 goals for Manchester City.
The 22-year-old striker broke the all-time record for goals in a season with 36, while the Silver Boot went to Harry Kane with 30 goals and Ivan Toney finished third with 20 goals.
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka had an outstanding performance last season, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists for Arsenal. The young player has been playing for the Gunners since the 2017/2018 campaign.
